Question: After watching the video on Odissi, what is Ms. Shakti's main reason to embrace this form of dance?
Answer:
Odissi is a classical dance that originated in India. Ms. Shakti’s main
reason to embrace this form of dance is “to tell [her] story,” and
because “[the dance] is pure expression of joy” for her. By dancing such
temple dances, she is embracing the cultural aspects of India that she
feels connected to. Through this dance and devoting herself to studying
under her guru, she explores the importance of her lineage and explores
her inner truths and way of life. She believes that art is the path to
realization. She also enjoys this form of dance because it gives her the
freedom to live in the present moment.
Question: What is the Shakers core believe according this video?
Answer: The
Shakers are very practical people. They believe that everything is a
gift from God, that God is love, and that they labor for God every day.
Every breath they breathe is a gift of God and should be used for God.
As said in the clip, “Hands to work, hearts to God. Hands to work is
first, because you must have something to provide.” They live under the
three C’s: Celibacy, Community of goods, and Confession of sins.
Question: After watching this video, what is the main purpose of the Shakers' dances?
Answer: The
Shakers’ dances are a form of prayer. Before the dance starts, they say
“Let us labor.” They are demonstrating their hard work before God and
explaining that they are farmers of the land. The Shakers express their
faith and devotion to working for God and following His Word in their
dances.
Answer: This
dance is very different from the first two videos we watched. The
Dancing Dolls are much more expressive, free flowing, and graceful. They
dance and express their worship with emotion and passion. The music is
also much more modern, making it more appealing to a younger person like
me. The all-white costumes worn by the dancers symbolize their purity
rather than stating it outright in the music lyrics. The second video,
by the Shakers, is much different because it is more a ritualistic,
mundane, and representative of church prayer. The Odissi dance is much
different as well because it is sets of carefully executed steps and
seems much more formal.
Question: Click on this link and summarize page 11
Answer: Liturgical
dance is an important aspect of prayer. Not only is liturgical dance
dependent on those performing the dance, but it is also reliant on those
watching the dance. Viewers essentially become a part of a large
community prayer. In the 1970’s, other types of music appeared in types
of Christian worship and allowed for Christian stories to be expressed
in new ways. This also expanded the types of locations Christian dances
can be performed: festivals, classrooms, gathering sites, etc.

1. Because people want to feel the mysteries that cannot be
expressed in words, they want to be inspired and hopeful. She uses this dance
to tell stories and inherit history and traditions. Dance makes everything
meaningful.
2. Everything is a gift from God. Everything they do is for
the gift. They are working hard to make it perfect. Work hard and offer
diligence to God.
3. They expressed their love for God and prayed for
happiness. Shakers represent the extreme religious beliefs of their time.
4. Dancing dolls separate different components to perform
different actions in the same music. The first two people stayed the same while
dancing and singing. And I think dancing dolls are more like modern dances,
while the first two are formal and related to religion.
5. The ritual dance is the same as the prayer dance. They
are communicating with Shakers dance moves and gestures. Seeing yourself
through mutual prayers produces a common sense. The newer types of worship
dance and movement can be further divided into a wide range of worship dance
categories, which are used to tell Christian stories.

1. Ms. Shakti's primary purpose for this type of dance is to
express her empathy to the audience and evoke the audience's emotions to
follow along with her emotions, like tear and sadness.
2. I think Shakers' core belief is their god. They believe that what people have owned are gifts from God, and what they should do is to return the same effort back to god. The dance form represents an approach to pray to god.
3. The main purpose of Shakers' dance is to worship and pray to god.
4. The first two videos are more likely to be a way to pray to god. The Dancing Dolls is more likely to contain some modern dance and entertainment elements, but also somehow relates to religious. The performers of the dancing dolls are younger than those who perform in the previous two videos.
5. Liturgical dance is a representative of praying dance. The dance itself can closely relate to the elements in religious. All liturgical dance movements can somehow connect with praying and worshiping, though they have many different types of dances, like tap, mime, and ethnic.

People
want all kinds of mental and emotional support from dancing, and her goal is to
help people get what they want from this from of dance. Dance gave her meaning
in life, so she wanted to carry it forward
The Shakers core believe according this
video
The shakers are famous for their hymns, spirituals,
dances and other prayer music, It’s a member of the Christian reappearance
fellowship, an American branch of the quakers. Obliviously, they believe in god
and they do every thing for the god.
The main purpose of the Shakers' dances
They focused on creating a sin-free society in the new
world.Like the ancient sects of old, they believed that angels danced in
heaven; At the same time, like the ancient prophets of the bible, they thought
that the passionate, well-ordered dance could communicate with the
gods. Therefore, sin can be shaken out of the body while dancing.
The main difference between their dance and the dances in the
first two videos
The shakers' dance was a religious dance, and they worship
when dancing. Other two dances are common social dances.
Summarize the information on page 11
