Parranda is a traditional celebration that takes place in the central part of Cuba in each town of the province of Villaclara and other neighboring towns. The main characteristic of this festivity is that the towns are always divided in two neighborhoods that compete against each other. The videos below show the details of this event in the town of Remedios where the tradition was born. The parranda was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of the World by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). Karin Muller, a Swiss-born author, filmmaker, photographer, and
adventurer has created these videos in which she shares her view of this very unique celebration.
